GBEF Phone-A-Thon
February 25-28, 2013

You can help students become better readers!

The Foundation will hold its 11th Annual Phone-A-Thon in February to help struggling students in our district become better readers and be more successful in school.

Gresham Ford, Gresham Sanitary, Key Bank-Troutdale and the Gresham Outlook are teaming up with the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation to help students learn to read. Again this year, the foundation will raise funds through its annual Phone-A-Thon to support the district’s program to help struggling readers. The event also provides fundraising support to high school student groups. Last year, the Phone-A-Thon raised nearly $29,000. From February 25-28, student callers from our three high schools will once again man the phones to call district parents & community members to ask for a donation to this worthwhile cause.

Please answer the call!

You can help students become better readers!

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Gresham Ford, Gresham Fred Meyer and the Gresham Outlook are teaming up with the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation to help students learn to read. Again this year, the foundation will raise funds through its annual phone-a-thon to support the school district’s core reading program “Literacy by Design.” This program helps every student in every elementary school in our district. The event also provides fundraising support to high school student groups. Last year, the phone-a-thon raised nearly $30,000. From February 21-24, volunteers will call parents and ask for donations. Gresham Ford, Gresham Fred Meyer and the Gresham Outlook are sponsoring the fundraiser in hopes to raise even more this year. As an incentive, if you donate $40 or more, you will receive a $20 gift certificate for service from Gresham Ford and a free DVD “The Tails of Abigail.” So when you hear the phone ring in February, answer the call!

2010 Scramble for Students

Monday, September 6th, 2010

You are invited to join us for the 2010 Scramble for Students being held September 14, 2010 at the Gresham Golf Course. Last year the interest, energy, commitment and generosity of the community in support of Scramble for Students overwhelms me! More than 100 golfers came from all over the city to participate. Thirty local businesses chose to sponsor our tournament. Twenty- three individuals donated prizes and gifts for our golfers. Sixteen high school students volunteered. And collectively, we produced and played one of our most successful golf tournaments in our foundation’s history!

GBEF Donates $60,000

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

gbef donation
The Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation has announced it will donate $60,000 towards the purchase of a core reading program at the elementary level to the Gresham-Barlow School District. The funds come from the foundation’s 2009 and 2010 phone-a-thons.

“We are excited to support our schools through this donation,” said Foundation Chair Wendy Vondrak. “Providing classroom materials that will help ensure every elementary school student develops strong reading skills is critical to this school district’s success.”

Future Donations

The foundation has also agreed to donate the proceeds from the 2011 and 2012 phone-a-thon for the reading program purchase. The annual phone-a-thon, held in February, is the foundation’s largest fundraising event of the year. Over the last six years, the foundation has raised more than $260,000 to provide extra support for struggling readers.  In addition to providing support for reading programs, it also provides a fundraising opportunity for high school student groups.

The Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation was started in 1994 to assist the schools of the district in providing the best possible educational opportunities for its students.

We would like to thank our 2009 and 2010 contributors:

Gresham Ford

Bremerik Construction

Gresham Outlook

Tokola Properties

MBank

Cascade Athletics

Gresham Sanitary

Danna Brothers, Elmers
