Presenting Ann Rule, America’s Foremost True Crime Writer

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

On May 31, 2012 Gresham Barlow Education Foundation will once again host “Bagels and Books” featuring best selling author Ann Rule. Ms. Rule is regarded by many as America’s foremost true crime writer and the author responsible for the genre as it exists today.

Most of her 33 books and 1400 articles deal with three areas: the victims’ stories; the detectives and prosecutors and how they solve their cases with old fashioned police work and modern forensic science, and the killers’ lives.

Joining Ann for the event will be her daughter, Leslie Rule, who is a noted author in her own right.

Enjoy a complimentary light breakfast while listening to two of Oregon’s famous authors.

This fundraising event will be held Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 7:00 – 8:30 am at Grace Community Church 800 SE Hogan Rd in Gresham.

GBEF Phone-A-Thon
February 20-23, 2012

You can help students become better readers!

The Foundation will hold its 10th Annual Phone-A-Thon in February to benefit literacy programs in every elementary school in the district.

Gresham Ford, Gresham Sanitary and the Gresham Outlook are teaming up with the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation to help students learn to read. Again this year, the foundation will raise funds through its annual phone-a-thon to support the school district’s core reading program “Literacy by Design.” This program helps every student in every elementary school in our district. The event also provides fundraising support to high school student groups. Last year, the phone-a-thon raised nearly $27,000. From February 20-23, student callers from our three high schools will once again man the phones to call district parents & community members to ask for a donation to this worthwhile cause.

Please answer the call!
