Business Coalition

The strength of a community can be measured in part by the strength of its school system and its workforce. Business leaders know that they can be more successful and profitable if their employees are well educated and trained. Smart business leaders know that by supporting education they are investing in the future of their own community and their own businesses. Today’s first graders could very well be tomorrow’s computer programmer, human resources director, city planner or real estate developer. By ensuring that the students in Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation receive a world class education in top notch facilities with current technology and resources, businesses are, in fact, training the work force of the next generation.

Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation invites local businesses to join together in a partnership designed to support K-12 education in our district and to ensure that our students have the tools to help them be successful. Funds generated through membership in the GBEF Business Coalition help bring great things to our district’s classrooms. Local business support allows us to impact the education of more students by providing for innovative and enriching programs and activities primarily in the areas of math, science, reading, and writing.

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How will my membership funds be used?

  2. Funds generated through the annual membership drive support the mission of Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation. Funds are used to support the small grant program, providing money for projects and activities that encourage innovative teaching in the core curriculum areas of science, math, reading and writing.

  3. What does grant money go for?

  4. Grants to elementary, middle and high school classrooms are awarded through a competitive process. To see a list of grants awarded to a specific school, click on "Programs" and under Small Grant Awards click View Grant Awards.

  5. Why are more funds needed?

  6. Each year the number of grants requested far exceeds the amount of funding available. Projects and programs funded are those that cannot be funded through the school districts lean operating budget. Your membership in the Business Coalition and support of the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation will help us equip our classrooms with current technology, books, and other resources critical to a world class 21st century education for our students.

  7. How often do I pay my membership contribution?

  8. Membership will be paid on an annual basis, with the opportunity to raise your level of commitment, or lower it if necessary, each year.

  9. What if I have additional questions?

  10. Please call our Foundation office, (503) 766-0008 for further information.
