Sam Barlow High School
Since 1995, the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation has given $105,272 to Sam Barlow High School. The majority of funds received were for Innovation Grants that directly enhance classroom instruction. The Bruins also received significant funding for literacy support, including the recent creation of a web-enabled eLibrary.
In 2016, BHS teacher Katie Zimmerman was awarded a $10,000 Sport for Health grant from the Portland Trail Blazer Foundation sponsored by Nike. Katie used the funding to purchase adaptive PE equipment for special needs students at BHS. The equipment will allow all students to access interactive, fun and engaging PE curriculum without concerns about physical limitations. The GBEF was the catalyst for the grant and worked closely with Katie to make her dream classroom a possibility.
